Bottle Decoration Options

Bottle Decoration Options

Two identical bottles look completely different after decoration. Here is how to choose between printing directly, foiling or labelling.

Bottles from our catalogue — bottle surfaces prepared for printing and labelling.

Silk screen printing

Ink is pressed through a mesh directly onto the bottle — durable, tactile and cost-effective for 1–6 colours. Ideal for logos and simple line art. We charge per colour pass.

Hot stamping

A metallic or pigmented foil is heat-pressed onto the surface for a premium gold/silver mark. Best for a single hero logo on a luxury SKU.

Labeling

Self-adhesive or wrap labels carry the most information (ingredients, claims, regulatory) and swap fastest between variants. Use waterproof, wash-off-adhesive stock for recyclability.

Decoration methods
Method Best for Durability
Silk screen Logo, line art High
Hot stamping Single luxury mark High
Label Regulatory text Medium

Compliance note: For cosmetics, materials and decoration must stay compliant. Shijin bottles and inks meet FDA cosmetic requirements and the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC 1223/2009), under ISO 9001:2015 quality management.

Cost and durability decide the method

Decoration choice usually comes down to run size and durability need. Silk screen costs per colour pass but has almost no setup, so it wins for logos and 1–3 colour line art on medium runs. Hot stamping carries a foil cost and a die, making it a premium single accent. Labels have the lowest setup, which is why they win for small runs and for artwork that changes often.

Durability runs the other way: silk screen and hot stamp survive more handling and washing than paper labels, so products that live in the shower or get handled a lot should lean toward direct print or a durable label stock.

Combining methods for a layered look

The richest shelf looks often combine methods: silk screen for the logo plus hot stamping for a metallic accent, or a label carrying the regulatory text with a screen-printed hero mark on the shoulder. Combining them raises cost and setup, so it suits premium SKUs where the layered finish supports a higher price point.

For a single cost-effective mark, one method is usually enough — reserve the combination for the SKU that carries the brand’s premium story.

Matching method to the job

Need Best method Why
1–3 colour logo Silk screen Durable, low setup, per-colour cost
Metallic premium mark Hot stamping Gold/silver foil accent
Full-colour, changing art Label Lowest setup, flexible
Regulatory text Label Fits ingredients & claims

For recyclability, choose a wash-off adhesive on labels so the label detaches in the wash stage and keeps the PET stream clean. Print directly on the bottle where you want to avoid label removal altogether.

What good execution looks like

A solid process starts with the tool and ends with a measured, repeatable part. We cut the mold in-house, validate the first article against the drawing, and hold wall and weight within a tolerance band so every bottle off the line seats its closure the same way.

Decoration is where most programmes slip — silk-screen and hot-stamp need a clean, flat landing zone and a cure check, or the print rubs off in transit. We run that check before bulk printing.

The point of the discipline is consistency: a buyer should be able to reorder six months later and receive a bottle that matches the first one part-for-part.

Red flags to avoid

Watch for suppliers who quote a closure size they cannot actually seat, who skip the first-article sign-off, or who cannot show the resin certificate for the market you ship to. Each of those turns into a line-down event once the order is in production.

How we support your first run

Because the tool is in-house, sampling lead time is typically 3–10 days from drawing to first article. We hold the sample against the drawing, confirm wall and weight, then scale.

For a custom programme that sequence means you validate before you commit — and because the same mold and resin are used on every repeat, later orders match the approved first article.

The takeaway for buyers

Treat the first-article sample as the contract. If it seats, seals and survives the drop test, hold every later order to it, and the programme stays consistent without re-engineering.

That single discipline removes most of the risk buyers associate with offshore tooling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which decoration is most durable?

Silk screen withstands more handling and washing than paper labels.

How many colours can you screen print?

Up to six colours per bottle; each extra colour is a separate pass.

Which decoration method is cheapest for small runs?

Labels — they have the lowest setup cost and are flexible when artwork changes often. Silk screen becomes economical on medium runs with 1–3 colours.

Does decoration affect recyclability?

Yes — use a wash-off label adhesive so the label detaches in the wash stage, or print directly on the bottle to keep the recycling stream clean.

Tell us the bottle you need - we will quote it

Send the capacity, material, neck finish and expected annual volume. MOQ is 5,000 pcs and sampling runs 3–10 days. You will get a written quotation against your own specification, not a catalogue price list.
