Bath bottles live in a wet, slippery environment and get squeezed hundreds of times. We build them in HDPE and PP for impact resistance, with ergonomic grips and pumps that keep working after repeated use. Built for a wet room, not a shelf

A bath and shower bottle lives in the least forgiving environment in the house: constant humidity, wet hands, being knocked off a ledge, and temperature swings. That changes what matters. Drop resistance and grip matter more than they do anywhere else, which is why HDPE dominates the category — it is tough, it is chemical-resistant against surfactants, and it does not shatter on tile.

PET has a place here too, mostly for premium and gift lines where clarity and shelf presence are the point. The trade-off is that PET is more brittle at large sizes and more prone to stress-cracking with aggressive formulations, so it suits a 200–300 ml presentation bottle better than a 750 ml family bottle that gets handled daily.

Size range is wide, typically 100–800 ml, and the larger formats are where the engineering gets interesting. A big shower bottle has to be grippable when wet, which usually means shape and surface texture do more work than any specification number.

Pumps, closures and what fails in the shower

The two closures that matter here are the lotion pump and the flip cap, and each fails in its own characteristic way. A pump specified for the wrong viscosity starves, sputters or dribbles after release; a flip cap with a weak snap crusts shut or opens in transit. Both are avoidable by matching the closure to the actual product rather than to a catalogue description.

Every pump design we run is validated for pressure retention and drop resistance, and we test the assembled bottle — filled, capped, inverted and dropped — rather than the pump in isolation. If your product ships by parcel, say so, because a pump that survives a pallet may not survive a mail bag without a lock.

Custom colours are available from 10,000 pcs with standard white, black and natural from 5,000 pcs. Colour is confirmed on a physical sample before production, which matters more than usual here because a bathroom bottle is seen in warm artificial light rather than on a colour-managed screen.

Sustainability and the recycled question

This is the category where recycled content gets requested most often, and it is worth being straightforward about what PCR does and does not change. PCR HDPE is available with documentation, and mechanically it performs close to virgin resin for a shower bottle. What it does change is colour consistency — PCR shifts resin slightly, which is invisible in a solid colour and noticeable in a natural or translucent one.

If you intend to make a recycled-content claim on pack, tell us at quotation stage so the right material and certification are reserved rather than substituted later. GRS documentation is available to support the claim.

The other sustainability lever is usually bigger than the resin: lightweighting. Reducing wall thickness where the load allows cuts resin per unit and freight per pallet, and at bath-and-shower volumes that is frequently a larger environmental and commercial win than a percentage of PCR.

FAQ

Common questions about bath bottles

Are your pumps leak-tested?+

Every design is validated at 0.6–0.8 MPa air pressure (vacuum/inverted) and a 1–1.2 m free-drop ×3 before shipping. Pumps are sampled and cycle-tested with your formula viscosity in mind.

Can I get this line in recycled plastic?+

Yes — GRS-certified PCR PET is a standard option. Many EU and US bath brands run 30–100% PCR content with full certification documents for retail compliance.

Will a bath bottle survive being dropped when full?+

It should, and this is a specification we set deliberately rather than hope for. Drop performance depends on the resin, the wall thickness and the fill level, and a bottle dropped full onto tile is a much harsher test than one dropped empty. We validate designs by drop-testing filled bottles and size the wall to the way the product will actually be used. If your bottle is large and will be handled one-handed and wet, tell us — that changes the specification more than any other single detail.

Can this line be made in recycled plastic?+

Yes — PCR HDPE is available with documentation to support a recycled-content claim, and for a shower bottle it performs close to virgin resin. Two things to plan around: PCR shifts colour slightly, which is fine in a solid colour and visible in a natural one, and it generally needs a slightly higher minimum to run economically. Tell us the claim you want to make on pack and we will tell you what we can certify rather than letting you discover the limits later.

What size range makes sense for a bath and shower line?+

Most lines work with three: a 100–200 ml travel or trial size, a 300–500 ml standard retail size, and a 700–800 ml large or family format. Running all three in the same material and with the same decoration language is what makes the range read as one brand. All three can usually be built from stock moulds in our library, which avoids tooling entirely and keeps sampling to about 3–10 days.
