Food-grade vs standard rPET
Food-grade rPET is washed and decontaminated to contact-safe standards; standard rPET suits non-contact or outer components. For a bottle that touches formula, specify food-grade and ask for the certificate.
GRS and chain-of-custody
A GRS certificate confirms recycled content and responsible sourcing with tracked chain-of-custody. Buyers and auditors expect it; request both the certificate and a per-batch declaration.
Color limits at high loads
Clear and light-blue rPET reclaim at the best value. High recycled loads tint the resin toward a soft amber or grey; plan the masterbatch so the tint reads intentional, not accidental.
Clarity vs recycled percentage
Maximum clarity needs lower recycled loads or a clear virgin cap layer. If a crystal-clear look is essential, balance the rPET percentage against the optical target with your supplier.
Pair with recyclability
rPET only helps if the bottle re-enters the stream — keep the closure mono-material and the label removable so the whole unit recycles.
