PCR content levels and what they change

PCR content is usually stated as a percentage of recycled resin blended with virgin. 25–30% is a common starting point that holds clarity and strength with little visual change; 50–70% makes a stronger claim but can show a faint tint; 100% PCR is possible but more brittle and less transparent, so it suits opaque or lightly tinted bottles.

The tint is the visible trade-off: recycled flake carries colour from its previous life, so higher PCR loads drift toward grey or amber unless matched with a masterbatch. Lock the percentage and the tint together.

Documenting the claim so it survives

  • Use the mass-balance route where full segregation is impractical, and say so.

What cosmetic formulas demand from the bottle

For cosmetic fills the bottle is part of the compliance and performance chain, not just a container. The body has to hold the formula without stress cracking or leaching, survive the filling line, and stay readable after months on a shelf or in a warehouse.
