Silk-Screen vs Labels vs Hot Stamping: Choosing Bottle Decoration

Every decoration method has a look, a cost and a catch. A field guide to printing, labelling and finishing your bottles the right way.

Decoration is where brand happens

The bottle carries the formula; decoration carries the brand. We run silk-screen, labelling, hot stamping, spray coating, frosting, electroplating, shrink-sleeve and water-transfer in-house — but each suits a different job.

Silk-screen printing

Silk-screen prints ink directly onto the bottle, giving a durable, tactile result that’s ideal for logos and simple multi-colour artwork. It’s priced per colour pass. As a guide, up to 4 passes run about ¥0.1 each; 5 passes about ¥0.1 each; 6 passes about ¥0.15 each.

PE bottles must pass a flame treatment and water-adhesion test before silk-screen, otherwise ink can peel. We build this step in so print doesn’t rub off later.

Labelling

Labels give you photographic detail and easy artwork changes, at roughly ¥0.07 per label. But label choice matters:

  • Use waterproof synthetic paper (film- or oil-coated); for clear looks use a clear PE label
  • Avoid coated art paper — it leaves glue residue when peeled and forces scrapping
  • Labels must be roll-fed, with a maximum outer diameter of 350mm
  • Round bottle, single label: right-feed. Double label: right-feed, both on one roll
  • Flat bottle, single label: right-feed. Double label: one left, one right, each on its own roll

Hot stamping & premium finishes

Hot stamping (gold/silver foil), spray coating, frosting, electroplating and water-transfer deliver a premium feel — but they behave differently on each shape and resin. These finishes must be tested and sign-off obtained before we commit them to a job; we never promise them blind.

Matching method to product

A rule of thumb: silk-screen for durable logos and few colours; labels for detailed or frequently changing artwork; hot stamp and coatings for a luxury tier — validated with a sample first.
