The sprayer is the specification that matters

On a spray bottle the resin is the easy decision and the sprayer is the hard one. PET gives you clarity, low weight and good barrier, which is why it is the default for cosmetic mists, sanitizer sprays and light cleaning products. But what the customer judges is the spray: whether it comes out as a fine mist or a jet, whether it primes quickly, and whether it dribbles after release.

Those outcomes are set by sprayer output, nozzle geometry and — critically — the viscosity of your liquid. A sprayer that produces a beautiful mist with water can produce a stream with a slightly thicker product, which is why we test with your actual formulation rather than a substitute.

This is also the category where chemical compatibility of the sprayer internals matters most. The spring, gasket and dip tube are in constant contact with the product, and a component that corrodes will seize long before the bottle is empty.

Mist, trigger or stream — matching output to use

A fine mist sprayer suits facial mists, toners, hair products and anything applied over an area where an even, light coverage is the point. A trigger sprayer suits larger surfaces and cleaning applications where volume and reach matter more than fineness. A stream or jet insert suits targeted application.

Output is specified in volume per stroke and pattern, and the practical test is how it behaves with your product across the fill — a sprayer that mists beautifully when the bottle is full can degrade as the level drops and the dip tube geometry changes. Sampling covers that, which is one reason we ask for the formula early.

Neck finish governs what fits. The common finishes we run are 20/410, 24/410 and 28/410, and choosing the sprayer before the bottle is drawn avoids the most common and most avoidable second sampling round in this category.

Decoration, minimums and what to send us

PET takes decoration well: silk screen for crisp logos, hot stamping for metallics, spray coating for frosted or gradient effects, and labelling for complex artwork. On a clear spray bottle, a frosted or gradient coating is often what makes the product look considered rather than generic.

To quote accurately we need four things: bottle size, neck finish, sprayer type and product viscosity. Everything else — colour, collar, dip-tube length — can be settled during sampling. Missing viscosity is the most common reason a first sample disappoints.

Minimums are 5,000 pcs for white, black and natural sprayers and 10,000 pcs for custom colours. Samples on stock moulds typically run 3–10 days, and we suggest approving the bottle and sprayer assembled so you are testing what the customer receives.

FAQ

Common questions about pet spray bottles

Which sprayer gives the finest mist?+

For a fine mist we recommend a mist sprayer sized to your formula; we sample and cycle-test with your actual liquid before production.

Can I customize the nozzle?+

Yes — sprayer output, head color and finish can be matched to your brand.

How do I get a finer mist?+

Fineness comes from the sprayer insert and the nozzle geometry, but it only holds up if the formulation supports it — viscosity is the limiting factor. A thicker liquid will stream rather than mist no matter how fine the insert is. Send us your product and we will sample two or three inserts and tell you honestly whether the answer is a different sprayer or a small formulation change. That conversation is much cheaper before you have ordered fifty thousand units.

Will the sprayer survive my formula?+

It depends on the chemical profile, because the spring, gasket and dip tube sit in the product permanently. Alcohol-based sanitizer sprays, essential-oil blends and high-solvent cleaners each attack different components, and a corroded spring seizes long before the bottle fails. Tell us what is in the bottle at quote stage and we will specify compatible internals, then cycle-test with your actual liquid rather than water.

Can I customise the sprayer as well as the bottle?+

Yes — output volume, spray pattern, head colour and collar finish can all be matched to your brand. Standard white, black and natural start at 5,000 pcs; custom colours start at 10,000 pcs. The collar finish has to be matched to the bottle neck, so it is worth deciding the sprayer and the bottle together; specifying the bottle first and hunting for a sprayer that fits afterwards is the most common cause of a second sampling round in this category.
